Losing weight can be a daunting task! You may do great the first couple of weeks, but slowly start losing your motivation. You may start to ask yourself why certain people can manage this when you can’t. What do they do to achieve this?
Identifying your most important weight loss goals is the first step in your weight loss program. In your dreams, what do you envision as the results of your weight loss? Do you want to be able to wear clothes in smaller sizes? Is there a number you hope to see next time you weigh in? Is your goal just to be healthier?
Tracking your weight loss weekly or even daily is crucial. Whether you eat something big or small, be sure to document it. Maintaining a daily journal will make you feel accountable for the things that you have eaten throughout the day. This will give you the inspiration to make healthy food and drink choices.
It is best to shop for and prepare food when you are full. If you wait until you’re excessively hungry, you’re more likely to make unhealthy eating choices, to eat impulsively, or to overeat. To avoid making poor choices in foods, prepare meals in advance, and keep healthy snacks around. Try to pack your lunch rather than dining out. This not only helps you lose weight, but also helps you reduce food expenses.
A truly great weight loss plan will focus on both diet and exercise. Schedule fun work out activities a few times every week. If you are having trouble including exercise in your normal schedule, try to focus on having fun, rather than doing a workout. Find an activity that you enjoy and make time to do that. How about spending time with your male friends? Play some basketball with them! Do you enjoy dancing the night away? Dance classes may be the way to go. Do you escape life by going out into nature? Put on your hiking boots and enjoy nature while walking toward fitness.
If your pantries are not filled with bad food choices, you can’t consume them. Keep healthy foods on hands in your kitchen instead. Choose things like fresh fruits and vegetables, hummes and granola. Don’t buy the food that is not good for you. By not purchasing it at all, you won’t find yourself eating it!
Be sure to tell your friends and family all about your choice to lose weight. They can act as your support system and provide you with advice, encouragement and inspiration when you need it most, helping you stay on the path to achieving your weight loss goals. When you get together with friends you will feel more motivated.
